Learn about Hydroponics Systems with Veterans to Farmers.

Hy·dro·pon·ics
Hydroponics means "Water-Labor".  It is a method of growing plants in a water based, nutrient rich solution. Hydroponics does not use soil, instead the roots may be supported using an inert medium.

Course Overview

Veterans to Farmers CEA-Intro to Hydroponics program is hosted by our gracious partners at Altius Farms .  Altius is an urban-based rooftop greenhouse that grows specialty greens for some of Denver’s finest restaurants and local markets. While at Altius Farms veterans will become familiar with the needed skills to operate a hydroponic garden on any scale. This program is 10 weeks long requiring a 14 hour per week commitment. The veteran student will spend a total of 140 training hours split between on the job training and classroom time covering core topics. The class is taught by VTF Founding Member Richard Murphy. Upon finishing, graduates are awarded a Certificate of Completion that has been recognized by CSU’s Extension Office.
